Here we explain about entering NTUT and progressing to the Graduate School.

1 Flow Chart for Admissions

    • Division of Industrial Technology, Division of Health Sciences(Course of Information Science), Division of Information and Communication Accessibility: 1,230yen(for 2 years)
    • Division of Health Sciences(Course of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Course of Physical Therapy): 1,590yen(for 2 years)

The basic part of this insurance is paid by the University as part of student support services (2,300 yen for undergraduates [4 years] and 1,200 yen for graduates [2 years]). Optional parts, including those covering commuting hours and internship periods, are the responsibility of individual students. It is recommended that every student pay for these options.

3 Scholarship / Tuition waivers

In addition to the government's Schooling Support Program for Higher Education starting in 2020, we provide original programs to exempt admission fees and tuition fees for students who need financial support.

    • Students facing sudden changes in household income due to disasters, etc.

    • Foreign students, related to their expenses
    • Students of high scholastic achievement and those honored for an achievement
  • In addition to exemption programs mentioned above, we have other support programs such as suspension of admission fees and suspension or monthly payment of tuition fees. Please contact us at the numbers below for application.
  • New schooling support programs
    Based on the Act on Schooling Support for Students at Universities and Equivalent Institutions proclaimed and enacted, the government has provided since FY2020 scholarship and exemption programs for tuition and admission fees for students being admitted to or learning at institutions confirmed as fulfilling the requirements, as part of efforts to support schooling of students at higher educational institutions such as universities and vocational colleges. Please refer to the Japanese pages for details.

4 Admission of Undergraduate Schools

  • Qualifications for admission

(1)Faculty of Industrial Technology for people with hearing disability

As well as university entrance qualifications (such as graduation from a special-needs school or high school), the candidate should have a hearing level of about 60 dB or more in both ears,* or find it impossible or very difficult to hear voices at normal loudness even with the use of a hearing aid.

*Hearing level with unaided ears (i.e. ears without hearing aids or cochlear implants turned off)

(2)Faculty of Health Sciences for people with visual disability

As well as university entrance qualifications (such as graduation from a special-needs school or high school), candidates should have corrected eyesight less than approximately 0.3 or have a high level of deterioration in visual function besides eyesight and be unable to recognize or have extreme difficulty recognizing ordinary characters, figures, etc., even with magnifying visual devices, etc., or be found to require education with special means such as Braille or enlarged characters in the future.

High school: High school courses for special needs schools or regular upper secondary schools (including other secondary education schools)

*The interview of candidates for the Course of Physical Therapy at the Department of Health includes exercise aptitude tests.

Individual academic achievement tests require that an examination by the National Center for University Entrance Examinations be taken.

The admission examination and lectures after admission are all conducted in Japanese for both Faculties.

5 Admission of Graduate School

  • Qualifications for admission

(1)Division of Industrial Technology

  • Does not fall under the above but is deemed by NTUT through its individually conducted admissions qualification screening to have academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above-mentioned degree level

(2)Division of Health Sciences

Candidates should have corrected eyesight less than approximately 0.3 or have a high level of deterioration in visual function besides eyesight and be unable to recognize or have extreme difficulty recognizing ordinary characters, figures, etc., even with magnifying glasses, etc., or be found to require education with special means such as Braille or enlarged characters in the future.

Course of Acupuncture and Moxibustion

  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree and has also obtained, or is expected to obtain, three licenses to practice acupuncture, moxibustion, and manual therapy
  • Has graduated, or is expected to graduate, in acupuncture and manipulative therapy at an overseas university
  • Does not fall under the above but has obtained three licenses to practice acupuncture, moxibustion and manual therapy and is deemed by NTUT through its individually conducted admissions qualification screening to have academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above-mentioned degree level

Course of Physical Therapy

  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree and has also obtained, or is expected to obtain, a license in physiotherapy
  • Has graduated, or is expected to graduate, in physiotherapy at an overseas university
  • Does not fall under the above but has obtained a physiotherapists license and is deemed by NTUT through its individually conducted admissions qualification screening to have academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above-mentioned degree level

Course of Information Science

  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree in engineering or science
  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree in engineering or science from an overseas university
  • Does not fall under the above but is deemed by NTUT through its individually conducted admissions qualification screening to have academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above-mentioned degree level

(3)Division of Information and Communication Accessibility

Disability is not a criterion for admission to the Division of Information and Communication Accessibility, and any one of the following admission qualifications. *

  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree
  • Has obtained, or is expected to obtain, a bachelor's degree from an overseas university
  • Does not fall under the above but is deemed by NTUT through its individually conducted admissions qualification screening to have academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above-mentioned degree level

* Sign language communication skills are required of applicants for the Course of Sign Language Education.
